The LIME Curriculum is a challenging, creative and diverse curriculum that has been designed to ensure our pupils receive a high-quality education during their time at Limehurst. Staff have played a key part in developing their curriculum areas to help design and update our current curriculum. High levels of experience and expertise within the staff ensures the high-quality teaching across all subjects. The LIME curriculum KEY THEMES run through all subject areas across the school. The key themes promote our KEY OUTCOMES, we strive for all pupils who attend Limehurst to achieve these outcomes before they leave Limehurst to further their education.
The key themes running through the LIME curriculum are:
Language rich A language rich curriculum is key to any successful curriculum. Reading lies at the heart of our curriculum and is prioritised across the school to allow pupils to access the full curriculum on offer. All our subjects are language rich and vocabulary is carefully organised and taught within all the subjects we offer.
Inclusive Limehurst is an inclusive school: we strive for all pupils to achieve their full potential. Each curriculum area ensures inclusivity for pupils of all abilities and background. All pupils feel welcome and valued at Limehurst, we attempt to remove any barriers to learning whilst delivering an ambitious curriculum that provides equal opportunities for all.
Motivational The LIME curriculum motivates our children to develop their learning and acquire new skills. We aim to ignite a passion for learning within each student. Our curriculum is carefully crafted to engage students on a personal and emotional level, fostering a love for learning.
Engaging The LIME curriculum has been designed to engage and inspire our pupils. Lessons across the school are dynamic, interactive, and tailored to individual interests. This approach not only promotes active participation but also encourages critical thinking and creative expression across the curriculum.
The LIME curriculum promotes these key outcomes for our pupils:
Leaders At Limehurst pupils become leaders of their own learning by encouraging independent thinking across all subjects. Within the EYFS children are encouraged to lead their own learning using provocations provided and these skills are developed as pupils move through school. Our curriculum encourages critical thinkers and fosters problem solving, all vital skills required by any leader.
Independent The LIME curriculum encourages pupils to take ownership of their own learning. Pupil’s foster a ‘can do’ attitude to all aspects of life at Limehurst. Our curriculum aims for our pupil’s to learn how to make informed choices, set goals, and make decisions about how to fulfil their learning needs.
Motivated for future learning & opportunities Our curriculum aims to motivate our pupils to want to learn more, to be eager to find out more and achieve more. By working with local schools and colleges we inspire our pupils to aim high and show them the opportunities available to them if they work hard at school. Through assemblies and visitors we inspire our pupils to aim high with their future.
Empathetic Our curriculum is dedicated to cultivating empathy in children through all our subjects and wider curriculum opportunities. Through immersive experiences within our curriculum, we aim to create empathetic individuals who appreciate diversity and carry this understanding into their interactions, contributing to a more empathetic and inclusive society.
